x86 x64

X86 or X64

I went to the nVIDIA driver update page and they have Vista drivers for Vista X86 and X64. I thought there was 32 bit and 64 bit - what am I missing here (be nice<G>).
Bill

x86 = 32 bit. x64 = 64 bit. x86 refers to the old 80x86 processors which set the name for the family by convention. x64 refers to AMD64 which was the first 64-bit processor that was backwards compatible with the x86 instructions. The first processor to appear in a family by convention names the whole family. Intel 64-bit chips with x86 compatibility are still referred to as x64.

A brain. It's not exactly hard to work out the connection for fuck

sake.
